A creative exhibition where young voices from Port Talbot challenge the past and imagine a new future through artwork, storytelling and more.

Steeltown Schoolkids Exhibition showcases the voices and visions of young people from Port Talbot, created in collaboration with local primary schools. Hosted at The Art Space, Port Talbot, the exhibition features artwork and storytelling that explore the town’s past, present, and imagined futures.

The exhibition invites people to connect through creativity, sharing stories of play, identity, aspirations, and growing up in a steel town. The work is bold, thoughtful, and rooted in lived experience, challenging the dominance of adult voices in local history and wellbeing.

Children, families, educators, and the wider community are welcome to join this creative celebration of Port Talbot’s identity.

This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 6-15 November 2025. Being Human is led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
