Former student, Eileen, had a remarkable and fascinating life which she captured in her memoir, 'Not an Ordinary Life'.
From joining the WAAF at 18, to working as an interpreter at the liberated Breendonk concentration camp, managing hotels, returning to adult education at 75 and completing her degree in 2008, Eileen documented her distinguished life in her self-published autobiography, Not an Ordinary Life.
Eileen championed lifelong learning and campaigned to maintain the delivery of courses in Cardiff. Her efforts were acknowledged with a British Empire Medal in 2013.
Sadly, Eileen passed away in 2016 at the age of 95, but her legacy lives on with her memoir which has now been newly published by Candy Jar Books.
Eileen studied 46 part-time courses at Lifelong Learning from 1995 to 2011 and she became a good friend as well as advocate. We thought it fitting to celebrate the new release of Not an Ordinary Life at a special event at Lifelong Learning where friends and fans of Eileen have the opportunity to buy the book and reminisce.
This event is free, but with limited space, please register to attend.
