A joyful birthday party for the Disability Discrimination Act complete with music, cake, and community connection.

Join us for a creative, accessible celebration marking 30 years of the Disability Discrimination Act. This celebration, led by disabled artists and researchers, honours the activism that led to the Disability Discrimination Act and reflects on its legacy and the progress of disability rights since 1995.

In this celebration, we will explore responses to the act and its impact. The event is open to all.

The event will be a unified, welcoming space, with refreshments provided. Book now to avoid missing out!

The event is supported by research from Swansea University and Cardiff University and draws on upcoming work by historian Prof David Turner (Disability: A History of Resistance, The Bodley Head / Vintage Books).

This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 6 - 15 November 2025. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
