The School of Music warmly invites you to a powerful and uplifting event celebrating Black History Month. This special occasion honours the life and legacy of Paul Robeson, the legendary singer, actor, and political activist who used his voice to champion civil rights across Wales, Africa, and the world.
The event opens with an inspiring talk by Beverley Humphreys MBE, co-founder of the Paul Robeson Wales Trust. A celebrated broadcaster, performer, and advocate, Beverley will explore Robeson’s deep ties to Wales and his enduring influence as a global symbol of justice, dignity, and cultural pride.
Following the talk, immerse yourself in an interactive drumming workshop led by Landing Mané, director of the Lanyi West African Ensemble and founder of Jamo Jamo Arts. A master percussionist and choreographer, Landing brings decades of experience in traditional and contemporary African music and dance, offering a hands-on experience that’s both energising and educational.
