A free creative workshop to explore how Cardiff’s historic shopping arcades shape our urban experience.
With the highest concentration of Victorian and Edwardian shopping arcades in the UK, Cardiff city centre provides the ideal setting to explore how our arcades shape everyday experiences and contribute to identity and community.
This event explores the history and architecture of Cardiff’s historic shopping arcades and how they shape our urban experience.
Enjoy a creative fieldwork art session with a local artist using pencils, clay, crayons, texture rubbings, and quick line drawings to capture the hidden details within the arcades.
Participants will then come together to combine their work into a collage, and reflect on how close sensory attention reshapes our understanding of historic spaces.
You will leave with a unique perspective on Cardiff’s historic spaces and a deeper appreciation of their place in our everyday lives.
Suitable for 16+. All materials supplied.
