A day of free interactive public activities and exhibitions to explore what it means to be human
In celebration of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, join Cardiff University and the University of South Wales to learn about our latest research that helps us to understand ourselves, our community, and the challenges we face in a changing world.
Our wide range of creative events and exhibitions will be linked to this year’s festival theme of Crossroads - a place of decision, encounter, consequence and change.
From live music, thought-provoking exhibitions to boardgames, virtual reality, mini-digs and creative interactive fun, there’s something for everyone!
- Live music by Wonderbrass - connecting Welsh musical tradition to contemporary street bands
- Take part in our boardgame to explore consent - can you really say no?
- Think you could spot a Tudor forgery? Spot the fake in our creative activities
- Audio stories and creative map making around the experiences of migrant mothers
- Find the clues and decide what's truthful and misleading at the misinformation crossroads
- Have a go at a virtual reality to explore our connections across physical and virtual worlds.
- A film screening of the cultural contribution of Chinese restaurants in South Wales
- Experience digital stories from USW’s Centre for Storytelling
- Get hands-on with local archaeological finds and take part in a mini-dig
- An exhibition uncovering the past, present and future of Cardiff’s iconic Temple of Peace
Join us for a lively family celebration of the humanities as a space for creativity, learning, reflection, and coming together in community.
Suitable for all ages.
The Norsk Café Bar will be open to purchase snacks, drinks or lunch.
Pay and display metered parking is available on surrounding roads. Travelling from Cardiff city centre, you can find us on bus routes 1, 6 and Skycar or short train journey from Cardiff Queen Street or Central Station to Cardiff Bay.
